ABOUT ME

I'm not the biggest fan of writing, though I always got something to say...

​I'm Chenise, a recent graduate with BAs in French Literature and International Studies (and a minor in Women and Gender Studies). I am a black asexual woman who likes to read, learn languages, travel, and advocate for marginalized populations. You can expect to see these interests in this blog.

​

This is a space for discussion and debate; for reading and commenting.

The title of this blog, Chasing Freedom: a Group Effort, comes from something my psychoanalysis professor taught me in class: He said that freedom will never come to us, that acquiring freedom is constant work, and that our jobs as residents of this earth is to live our lives trying to attain that freedom (while destroying systems of oppression in the process). He said chasing freedom is like chasing a horizon. Too many people cannot merely exist in our society; this is unjust. The title serves as a reminder to consistently be chasing freedom for ourselves and our peers, so that we can all just be.
